Ms. Chanda Kochhar, MD & CEO - ICICI Bank Limited

Ms. Chanda Kochhar is the Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer of ICICI Bank Limited. She began her career with ICICI as a Management Trainee in 1984 and has thereon successfully risen through the ranks by handling multidimensional assignments and heading all the major functions in the Bank at various points in time.

In 1993 when ICICI decided to enter commercial banking, she was deputed to ICICI Bank as a part of the core team to set up the bank. When ICICI set up the Infrastructure Industry Group in 1996 to create dedicated industry expertise in the areas of Power, Telecom and Transportation sector, she was handpicked and made incharge of the Infrastructure Industry Group.

In July 2000, she was chosen to head the Retail Finance division of ICICI and has been instrumental in scaling up the business. In April 2001, she was promoted as an Executive Director, heading the retail business in the Bank. In April 2006, she was appointed as the Deputy Managing Director with responsibility for both Corporate and Retail banking business of ICICI Bank and from October 2006 to October 2007 she handled the International and Corporate businesses of ICICI. In October 2007, she was appointed as the Joint Managing Director & CFO. She was heading the Corporate Centre, was the Chief Financial Officer (CFO) and was also the official spokesperson for ICICI Bank.

Mr. N.S. Kannan is the Executive Director and Chief Financial Officer of ICICI Bank. His responsibilities include Finance, Taxation, Corporate Legal, Treasury, Commercial & Investment Banking Group, Corporate Communications and Corporate Branding. He also has the responsibility for day to day administration of the Compliance and Internal Audit functions.

Prior to his current assignment at ICICI Bank, Mr. Kannan was the Executive Director of ICICI Prudential Life Insurance Company. He was responsible for the Corporate Centre including the Finance & Accounts functions, Investor/analyst relations, Investment Management, Corporate Strategy, Corporate Communications, Human Resources and Business Intelligence. Prior to ICICI Prudential Life Insurance Company, Mr. Kannan was the Chief Financial Officer and Treasurer of ICICI Bank.

Mr. Kannan has been with the ICICI group for over 19 years. He joined the ICICI group in 1991 as a project officer. During his tenure at the ICICI group he has also handled project finance operations, infrastructure financing, structured finance and treasury operations.

Mr. Kannan is a postgraduate in management from the Indian Institute of Management, Bangalore with a gold medal for best all-round performance. He is also a Chartered Financial Analyst from the Institute of Chartered Financial Analysts of India and an Honours graduate in Mechanical Engineering.


Mr. Suvek Nambiar

Suvek Nambiar is the Managing Director and CEO of ICICI Bank UK PLC. In addition, Suvek is a Senior General Manager with ICICI Bank Limited. Suvek is based in London. ICICI Bank UK Plc. is a full service UK Bank, authorised and regulated by the Financial Services Authority and offers a range of financial solutions to corporate and retail customers through a variety of delivery channels.

Suvek has a bachelor’s degree in electronics and communication engineering and a post graduate qualification by way of MBA from the Indian Institute of Management, Bangalore, India.

Suvek has over sixteen years of experience with the ICICI group across projects, infrastructure finance and international banking. His last role in Singapore prior to relocating to London was as Regional Head responsible for operations in Asia and the Middle East in addition to his role as the Chief Executive of the Singapore Offshore Branch. Suvek was part of the initial senior team responsible for setting up the international operations of ICICI Bank and scaling it to about one fourth of the total business of the Bank in the last seven years. Suvek has been instrumental in making the Bank a leading player in Offshore Indian loan syndications and credit markets.

Mr. Richard Orgill

Mr. Orgill is a professional banker with over 40 years of experience with the HSBC Group, before retiring in 2001. He has held numerous leading positions, the most recently, being Group General Manager & Global Head Corporate & Institutional Banking of HSBC Holdings PLC. He was previously a Director & Deputy Chief Executive Officer of HSBC Bank PLC. He was also Chief Executive Officer, Hong Kong Bank of Australia Ltd and Chief Executive Officer, Hong Kong & Shanghai Bank, Malaysia. Other past directorships include Euroclear Clearance System plc, The Thomas Cook Group Ltd, and Chairman of APACS (Association of Payment and Clearing Services) UK from August 1995 to August 1998. Mr Orgill was elected a Fellow of the Chartered Institute of Bankers in 1989.


Mr.Michael Fowle CBE FCA MA

Michael Fowle is a Chartered Accountant. He is a Non Executive Director of ICICI Bank UK (2003). Michael worked at KPMG from 1962-2000. He was CEO then Chairman of KPMG London & South (1993-98), having formerly been head of the UK audit practice and head of the worldwide banking practice. He was Chairman of KPMG India from1996-2000. He has been a director of Norwich & Peterborough Building Society and an adviser to HSBC Group. Michael's pro-bono appointments include: Chairman, The Place2Be (1999); Trustee, The Prince’s School of Traditional Arts (2009); Trustee, The Association of Governing Bodies of Independent Schools (2008); Independent Director, The Independent Schools Council (2009). Previously he was a member of the Governing Body of Rugby School (1988, Chairman 2002-09) and Chief Treasurer of St John Ambulance (1999-02).

Dr. Mohan Kaul

Dr. Mohan Kaul, CEO, Commonwealth Business Council

Dr Mohan Kaul was appointed Director-General and Chief Executive Officer of the Commonwealth Business Council (CBC) on its establishment by the Commonwealth Heads of Government in Edinburgh in October 1997. He is also Chairman of Commonwealth Inclusive Growth Services (India) Limited and member of the Board and chair of Governance Committee of ICICI Bank (UK). He is a member of the Council of the Crown Agents Foundation, Advisory Board of British Expertise and Board of Governors Ahmedabad University, India. Dr. Kaul is currently a member of the Presidential Advisory Councils of Mozambique, Uganda and Zambia. In the past he has served on similar councils in other countries.

A firm believer in making globalisation work for all, he lead a number of high-level initiatives targeted at investment promotion and strengthening the investment climate, good governance, corporate social responsibility, sound market-oriented economic policies, Public Private Partnerships, reducing the digital divide, WTO market access, trade facilitation and integration of developing countries into the global market.

Prior to his appointment to the CBC, Dr Kaul served as a Director and senior member of the Commonwealth Secretariat; United Nations adviser; Professor and Dean at the Indian Institute of Management (IIM), Ahmedabad. While at IIM, he was Advisor to the various Departments of the Government of India, including the Planning Commission, Electronics Commission, Department of Foreign Trade, He was also a member and boards and consultant to many leading public and private sector firms.

He has led International advisory and consultancy assignments in over 40 countries which includes assisting the South African government of President Mandela on public service reforms, advising the Prime Minister’s department of the Malaysian government, advisor to various Governments a member of the UN Secretary-General’s Management Efficiency Group, leading a delegation to China for discussions with President Hu Jintao on governance and globalisation and conducted the first evaluation of the Grameen Bank. He also addressed a special session of the UN Assembly on public management.

He has held other positions including member of the Board of the Africa Virtual University; Board of Directors of the UK-India Business Council, Central Council of the Royal Over-Seas League, and is a Liveryman of the City of London.

He has a PhD in Management Science from the University of Paris-Sorbonne. He is author of a number of publications.


Mr. Richard Banks

Mr Richard Banks has over 30 years experience in the UK Banking Industry. He is the CEO of UKAR Asset Resolution Ltd the holding company for the UK government's share holding in Bradford & Bingley plc and Northern Rock Asset Management Ltd and responsible for managing the portfolio of about £ 90bn of mortgage assets. He was earlier a member of the board of the Alliance and Leicester Group for over a decade and latterly the Group Risk Director of Alliance & Leicester until December 2008. He has many years Board Member experience and also served as a Non Executive Director of Visa Europe until October 2008. He serves as a Non Executive Director of Liverpool Compact which provides work experience for young people in Liverpool. Mr Banks is an Associate member of the Chartered Institute of Bankers. He is married with three children.
