Cut-off time

Requests received before 3:00 p.m. will be processed on the same working day. Requests received after 3:00 p.m. will be processed on the next working day. Exchange Rate at the time of submitting the request would be applicable for all requests. Please refer to our Terms and Conditions for further details.

  • Demand draft – you have the option of transferring money using a demand draft, which is a paper-based method of payment. Your draft can be:

    • Dispatched to your beneficiary in India
    • Dispatched to your beneficiary's bank in India
  • Wire transfer - this is a simpler, more traditional money transfer service, using SWIFT as the transfer method. You authorise us to wire funds from your account to your beneficiary’s account and you can transfer funds across the globe.

How to transfer money

Branch *

Step 1 – walk into your nearest branch

 

Step 2 – if you’re transferring money for the first time, or are transferring to a new beneficiary:

  • Fill out a remittance form and submit
  • Collect the acknowledgement receipt and check the time for placing the request

Step 3 – to send money to a pre-registered beneficiary:

  • Provide the details of your money transfer over the counter
  • Collect the acknowledgement receipt and check the time for placing the request

Phone

  • You can transfer up to £5,000 per day to your own ICICI Bank account in India, or up to £1,500 per day to a third-party ICICI Bank account or other bank account in India
  • You can only do a phone transfer to a pre-registered beneficiary. You can register a new beneficiary online or in branch

Step 1 – call us 24/7 on 0344 412 4444 (Calls to this number use free plan minutes if available, otherwise they cost the same as 01/02 prefix calls)
Step 2 – provide the details of your money transfer

Step 4 – write down the service request number and check the time you placed the request

 

Online

You can transfer up to £10,000 per day in total to any bank account in India (i.e. accounts with ICICI Bank Limited or any other bank that uses the Indian electronic clearing system). This aggregate amount may be transferred in multiple transactions.

 

Step 1 – Login to your online banking account via our website or mobile app and select 'Transfer Money' under 'Fund Transfer to India'

 

Step 2 – to send money to a new beneficiary:

  • Click on ‘Register a new beneficiary’ and enter the beneficiary details
  • If you have a mobile number registered with us, a Unique Reference Number (URN) will be sent as text to you within 5 minutes. Submit this URN on the ‘Confirm Beneficiary’ page within 72 hours of receipt
  • If you do not have a mobile number registered with us, call us 24/7 on 0344 412 4444 (Calls to this number use free plan minutes if available, otherwise they cost the same as 01/02 prefix calls) and we’ll verify the beneficiary details with you over the phone
  • The beneficiary will be registered within 1 business day

Step 3 – to send money to a pre-registered / approved beneficiary

  • Click on ‘Transfer Money’ and enter the details of your transfer request
  • Click on ‘Confirm’ after checking the details

How to transfer money

  • Provide the details of your money transfer over the counter

Important information

  • If you’re transferring money for the first time or to a new beneficiary, please provide valid proof of ID and proof of address. For transfers to a pre-registered beneficiary, you can provide your proof of ID.
  • For cash transfers, you may be asked to submit a proof of withdrawal in your own name.

Documentation requirement for customers not holding an account with ICICI Bank UK PLC

  • Photo ID document (Passport/Driving license), address proof (Utility bill/bank statement) - Not older than 3 months from current date.
  • Source of cash(for cash transfers).
  • A revised photo ID and address proof will be required after the lapse of a year from previous submission.

Please note: it is mandatory for the customer to provide a copy of the photo ID document with every remittance request.

Text alerts to your beneficiary

Is there someone at the other end waiting for your transfer? Now we can send your beneficiary a text alert when we transfer your money to India. This way they’ll always be in the know. Text alerts to India are charged at 50 pence per text.

Service Assurance

Our assurance to you is that we’ll transfer your money:

  • Instantly – online money transfers
  • In 4 hours – by phone and branch money transfers to ICICI Bank India
  • In 24 hours – by phone and branch money transfers to any other bank in India

If we fail to meet this assurance, we’ll pay you 5 pence for every £10 transferred. We’ll pay a minimum of £1 and maximum of £50:

  • HomeVantage Current Account holders will receive a credit into their account
  • Non-ICICI Bank UK account holders may receive the credit either by visiting an ICICI Bank UK branch, or via a credit into their current account with another UK bank (in which case, we’ll require account details)

Standing instructions

If you need to send money to India on a regular basis, you can set up a standing instruction. A standing instruction is an order you give ICICI Bank UK PLC to transfer a set amount at regular intervals. This way, you only need to place your money transfer request once and we will do the rest for you.
You can instruct us to transfer every 7 days, every 15 days, monthly, every 2 months, quarterly or every 6 months.
HomeVantage Current Account customers can log into online banking and go to the ‘Manage Standing Instructions’ tab.

Transfers through Debit card (non-ICICI Bank debit cards)

Now you don’t need to carry cash to transfer money to India. Enjoy the benefit of convenient and secure money transfers to any bank in India using your debit card.

 

Step 1: Walk into any of our branches and complete the money transfer request form. Don’t forget to bring your passport or driving license, even if you hold an account with us.

 

Step 2: Slot any non ICICI Bank chip and pin debit card at the teller counter and enter your PIN.

 

Step 3: Don’t forget to take the receipt of your transaction.

Future dated transfers

Forget having to worry about remembering the date of your transfer. With this feature you can send money to any account in India and instruct us in advance. Use this service if you already know all the details of your money transfer, and we will transfer your money on your chosen date.
Future dated transfers are completed at the exchange rate applicable at the time of transfer.
Simply instruct us today to send money at particular dates in the future. HomeVantage Current Account customers can log into online banking and go to the 'Transfer Money' tab.

Rate block feature

Get more Rupees for your Pounds. Tell us the minimum rate at which you wish to transfer money to India and we will ensure your money is sent only at that rate or at a higher rate. Just log on to internet banking, go to online money transfers and choose 'Rate Block' tab.

Transfer instructions in GBP or INR

We now give you the option to choose the currency of your money transfer request - in pounds (GBP) or Indian rupees (INR). A GBP instruction will tell us the exact amount to debit from your HomeVantage Current Account and the corresponding INR to be transferred. An INR instruction will tell us the exact amount of Indian rupees to be credited to your beneficiary. It’s all up to you. Just choose the option that best suits your needs.
For instructions in INR, the amount debited from your HomeVantage Current Account will be determined by the INR-GBP rate on the date of transfer, up to five decimal places.
